Or your own Internet name. Take ownership of your opinion. First of all, the blending of work and personal life is not new. These trend have been going on for years and they are certainly not news. The straight 40-hour all work, just work week is a historical abberation.

Now, if you have "no personal life left" I have to say, that is likely your fault. If you don't like the conditions of your life, change them. Choose a job that requires less of your time.

I put in my 50+ hours a week, and that's okay. I like what I do, and my company takes good care of me. The nature of my work also means I have the flexibility of working on projects late at night if I choose, and if I have personal errands during the work day, that's okay.

A good company looks at the work product you produce, and not just the hours you put in.

Technology allows us both a level of freedom and responsibility we haven't seen in years past, and that's a good thing.

But it is up to the individual to set those boundaries appropriately, and to choose a lifestyle compatible with those boundaries.

And none of that changes the fact that "Weisure" is lexicographical travesty.

@orient-lodge: That's a good point. Weisure= Reason to buy new shoes.

@Kate Burton: Exactly. While the tools have changed that make is easier than ever to work where I want and when I want, or to buy shoes want easier, the trend itself is not new. Perhaps the word is the product of a Publish or Perish university someplace. Come to think of it, I wouldn't mind a job where all I had to do was come up with stupid words.Cromelyhttps://www.blogger.com/profile/02220177112637075263noreply@blogger.comtag:blogger.com,1999:blog-8034970.post-48827808591904746982009-05-18T01:47:00.000-07:002009-05-18T01:47:00.000-07:00This comment has been removed by the author.Cromelyhttps://www.blogger.com/profile/02220177112637075263noreply@blogger.comtag:blogger.com,1999:blog-8034970.post-50556775189620607982009-05-15T20:20:00.000-07:002009-05-15T20:20:00.000-07:00Weisure, is that what I get to call ordering shoes...Weisure, is that what I get to call ordering shoes when I'm at the office now?
